Circuito of Maspalomas

When you arrive at Gran Canaria airport and drive towards Maspalomas, you will see a small airfield by the sea just before San Agustin, which is actually a racetrack, Circuito of Maspalomas. It is a great attraction for visitors to Gran Canaria.

The opening of the Circuito of Maspalomas dates back to 1996, when the small takeoff runway that is connected to the track was built. Then, in 1998, the beach version was built, and in 2005 the takeoff runway was separated from the Circuito of Maspalomas so that it could be used independently. Nowadays it is the only permanent circuit in the Canary Islands. Located in the Atlantic Ocean, near the west coast of Africa, the island of Gran Canaria is a place with some of the best weather conditions in the world.

The Circuito of Maspalomas has two tracks, the first, with a total length of 4,400 metres, with a width of 24 metres on the straight and 10 metres the rest. The second track has a total length of 2,250 metres, with a width of 10 metres.

When it is fully completed, it has 15 curves, 5 of which are to the right and 10 to the left. It also highlights the fact that there are areas where the width of the track reaches 24 metres. And believe it or not, being next to the beach, it reaches a maximum slope of 9%.

As we have pointed out, the fact that the circuit is in a privileged location means that all kinds of activities take place in its facilities, such as tests of different motorcycling and touring car championships, private rides, driving tests, courses to improve driving skills or in front of the handlebars, team building and even product presentations.

And it is not surprising, since in the same enclosure there are all kinds of amenities, to which is added the fact of being in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, where it is possible to find all kinds of amusements and services.

In short, the Circuito of Maspalomas is a very prestigious circuit which boasts the status of being the only one prepared as a speed circuit in the Canary Islands. You can spend a nice day driving Supercars such as Ferrari or Porsche or maybe a Lamborghini! You can actually hear the cars roaring from the main street. Such a fun thing to do!

And then at the end, you can go to the beaches that characterize this area of the island.
