Jeep Tour Route Description
The route starts from our base near Maspalomas, where we will orient you with your vehicle and go through a safety briefing before heading off.
The start of the route is a comfortable road that immediately starts climbing up into the mountains, skirting the town El Tablero with its views of the bay and sand dunes behind you.
This ever more dramatic route winds its way up the Maspalomas valley, becoming tighter and twistier as it climbs, eventually converting into a dirt track that traverses a breathtaking cliffside with wonderful panoramic views over the village of Cercados Espinos.
Along the way, we take a stop for a stunning photo opportunity before entering the fragrant pine forests of the natural park of Pilancones.
We continue climbing through the trees of this winding off-road section, taking in another stop before arriving at Lake Chira and the charming village of Cercados de Araña, where we rejoin the paved road.
On the far side of the valley, we climb again, up to our highest point – some 1300 metres above sea level and just below Roque Nublo, where we can enjoy a longer stop for lunch at the restaurant Bar la Candelilla.
Here you can sample some local Canarian cuisine and use the facilities. (FYI – lunch is not included)
After a 30–40 minute stop, we set off again, enjoying some of the twisty mountain roads that formed part of the stages for the World Rally Championship, before heading down towards Mogan along the side of the delightful Barranco de Ayacata.
The scenery changes constantly as we descend, passing the popular recreation spot, Presa de las Niñas, after which we stop once more to take in the panoramic views down into the valley of Mogan and get some more photos.
At this point, we head up and over the ridge and wind slowly down into Barranquillo Andrés via an incredibly steep descent with back-to-back hairpin bends – exciting!
From here, we head down into the Arguineguín valley via plenty more switchbacks, upping the pace when we reach the valley floor as we head back to the coast.
The final section takes in the old coast road from El Pajar to Meloneras, which winds along the coastline passing natural beaches along the way and brings us perfectly back to base.
